Job summary

Fueling Brains Education Services is seeking a Child Development Assistant to provide one-on-one support for young children across Calgary campuses. This mobile role requires travel between campuses and collaboration with educators and therapists to implement individualized strategies.

You’ll contribute to inclusive, engaging sessions, document progress, and assist in daily routines while supporting children with diverse needs.Ŕ

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in childcare, early learning, child development, or related environment.
• Education in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, or related field—completed or in progress.
• Interest in early intervention and diverse developmental needs.
• Flexibility to work across multiple Calgary campuses as needs change.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Patience, empathy, adaptability, and calmness in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one developmental support to assigned children.

Fueling Brains Education Services is looking for a compassionate, adaptable, and energetic Child Development Assistant to provide one-on-one support to young children across our Fueling Brains Academy campuses in Calgary.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys variety and can be flexible in their day-to-day work. Depending on where support is needed, you may work across different Fueling Brains Academy campuses throughout Calgary. You’ll need a valid Alberta driver’s licence, access to a reliable vehicle, and be comfortable travelling between campuses. Mileage is reimbursed.

This is more than a traditional childcare role. You’ll work alongside educators, therapists, and families to help children with diverse developmental needs build confidence, develop new skills, participate in classroom routines, and get the most out of their early learning experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

As a Child Development Assistant, you’ll support assigned children throughout their day while helping implement individualized intervention and learning strategies.

You will:

• Provide one-on-one developmental support to assigned children.
• Travel between Fueling Brains Academy campuses across Calgary based on program and child support needs.
• Help implement individualized intervention and learning plans alongside educators and therapists.
• Support children during classroom routines, meals, hygiene, rest periods, play, and learning activities.
• Create engaging, age-appropriate experiences that encourage communication, social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
• Adapt activities, materials, and approaches based on each child’s individual needs.
• Observe and document progress and share meaningful observations with the education and therapy team.
• Help children participate successfully and confidently within the classroom environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to provide consistent support.
• Contribute to a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment for every child.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

You may be a great fit if you have:

• At least 1 year of experience working in childcare, early learning, child development, or a related environment.
• Education in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, or a related field — completed or currently in progress.
• A genuine interest in early intervention and supporting children with diverse developmental needs.
• The flexibility and reliability to work across multiple Calgary campuses as needs change.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Patience, empathy, adaptability, and the ability to remain calm in a busy early-learning environment.

Experience supporting children with developmental, behavioural, communication, or other diverse needs is considered an asset.

You will also require:

• A valid Alberta driver’s licence and reliable vehicle, as travel between Calgary campuses is required. Mileage is reimbursed.
• First Aid & CPR certification preferred.
• A current Police Information Check (within 6 months).
• A Child Intervention Record Check.

POSITION DETAILS:

Start Date: October 1, 2026
Contract End Date: June 30, 2027
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Compensation: $18–$21 per hour
Location: Multiple Fueling Brains Academy campuses across Calgary, AB

Please note: This is a mobile support position. Your assigned campus may vary depending on the needs of the children and programs we support, so flexibility to travel throughout Calgary is an important part of the role.

This is an active, hands-on position that includes floor-based play and may require lifting or carrying up to 40 lbs.
