Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Program Supervisor, provides meals and snacks, performs housekeeping and laundry duties, and assists with the care of children.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and prepares meals and snacks in accordance with the Canada Food Guide and ensures that food supplies are maintained.
  • Ensures food supplies are maintained within the established budget.
  • Performs housekeeping and laundry duties.
  • Ensures that health and safety procedures are maintained.
  • Assists with the care of children.
  • Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Secondary school graduation; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Successful completion of a safe food handling training course (Level 1)
  • Experience cooking and planning menus for large groups
  • Knowledge of the Canada Food Guide as it relates to the Child Care and Early Years Act

Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to work with young children and their families
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Must have and maintain First Aid Certification
  • Must have and maintain an up-to-date record of immunization
  • Prior to commencing employment, must provide documentary evidence of having undergone a one-step tuberculosis skin test
