Job summary

BGC Central Vancouver Island in Parksville, BC is seeking a dedicated Child Care Centre Supervisor for maternity leave cover, starting November 1, 2026 through November 2027. The role oversees an Early Years program in Nanaimo, ensuring high-quality care and licensing compliance.

You will supervise staff, manage enrollment targets and reporting, and foster a trauma-informed, family-centered culture while supporting staff development.

Qualifications

• ECE Diploma and BC Early Childhood Registry Certificate required.
• License as Licensed Manager or eligibility to obtain CCFL approval within 30 days.
• 2+ years supervising staff in a Licensed Child Care Facility.
• Valid First Aid/CPR (CCFL approved) and clear Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: mentor staff, conduct onboarding, supervision and performance management.
• Program Excellence: ensure licensing compliance and alignment with BC Early Learning Framework.
• Family Connection: build relationships with parents and caregivers and involve them in care plans.
• Operational Management: oversee enrollment targets, financial reporting and facility maintenance.

Step into a leadership role with a purpose! BGC Central Vancouver Island is seeking a dedicated, organized, and inspiring leader to oversee one of our Early Years programs in Nanaimo. This is a Maternity Leave position with an anticipated start date of November 1, 2026 expected to continue through November 2027, with the possibility of extension.

• Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours per week), Monday – Friday.

How You’ll Lead

• Team Leadership: Mentor and support program staff through onboarding, supervision, and performance management. You’ll lead staff meetings and foster a positive, collaborative culture.

• Program Excellence: Ensure all programs meet VIHA Licensing requirements and align with the BC Early Learning Framework.

• Family Connection: Build effective relationships with parents and caregivers, involving them in decision-making and creating care plans that meet each child’s unique needs.

• Operational Management: Oversee enrollment targets, financial reporting, and facility maintenance in collaboration with our administrative teams.

• Culture of Care: Maintain a trauma-informed, person-centered environment that removes barriers to participation for all families.

What You Bring

• Education: ECE Diploma and valid BC Early Childhood Registry Certificate.

• Licensing: Ability to be approved as a Licensed Manager by CCFL within 30 days of hire.

• Experience: 2+ years in a Licensed Child Care Facility with proven experience supervising a team.

• Skills: Strong multitasking and scheduling abilities; proficiency in MS Office (Teams, Outlook, Excel); and the ability to function independently under pressure.

• Certifications: Valid First Aid/CPR (CCFL approved) and a clear Criminal Record Check.
