Job summary

BGC Central Vancouver Island is seeking a dedicated Child Care Centre Supervisor to lead one of our Early Years programs in Nanaimo on a maternity leave basis, with a start date of November 1, 2026 and through November 2027, with possible extension. The role is full-time in Parksville, BC, with a wage of $28.50 per hour.

You will mentor staff, ensure licensing compliance to VIHA BC standards, build strong family connections, manage enrollment and finances, and foster a trauma-informed, inclusive

Qualifications

• ECE Diploma and BC Early Childhood Registry Certificate required.
• Licensed Manager approval within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum 2+ years supervision in licensed child care.
• Strong multitasking, scheduling, and MS Office proficiency.
• First Aid/CPR (CCFL approved) and clear Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise program staff through onboarding, supervision, and performance management.
• Ensure all programs meet licensing requirements and BC Early Learning Framework.
• Build strong relationships with parents and caregivers and involve them in planning for each child.
• Oversee enrollment targets, financial reporting, and facility maintenance with admin teams.
• Maintain a trauma-informed, inclusive environment that removes barriers to participation.

Step into a leadership role with a purpose! BGC Central Vancouver Island is seeking a dedicated, organized, and inspiring leader to oversee one of our Early Years programs in Nanaimo. This is a Maternity Leave position with an anticipated start date of November 1, 2026 expected to continue through November 2027, with the possibility of extension.

How You’ll Lead

• Team Leadership: Mentor and support program staff through onboarding, supervision, and performance management. You’ll lead staff meetings and foster a positive, collaborative culture.

• Family Connection: Build effective relationships with parents and caregivers, involving them in decision-making and creating care plans that meet each child’s unique needs.

• Culture of Care: Maintain a trauma-informed, person-centered environment that removes barriers to participation for all families.

What You Bring

• Education: ECE Diploma and valid BC Early Childhood Registry Certificate.

• Licensing: Ability to be approved as a Licensed Manager by CCFL within 30 days of hire.

• Experience: 2+ years in a Licensed Child Care Facility with proven experience supervising a team.

• Skills: Strong multitasking and scheduling abilities; proficiency in MS Office (Teams, Outlook, Excel); and the ability to function independently under pressure.

• Certifications: Valid First Aid/CPR (CCFL approved) and a clear Criminal Record Check.
