Job summary

Hans Helgesen YMCA-YWCA Child Care seeks dedicated staff to provide high-quality, inclusive care for children aged 12 months to 5 years. You will plan and implement a child-led, play-based curriculum, engage families, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure supervision and developmentally appropriate activities.

The role opens brand new programs in Metchosin and offers benefits after probation, with a supportive team and values-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • Current ECE License to Practice in BC required.
  • Current Infant Toddler License to Practice required for Infant/Toddler program.
  • Special Needs Educator Certificate or related training is an asset.
  • Experience working with children in a child care setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of organization and customer service skills.
  • Current First Aid and CPR required (Standard First Aid with CPR-C within first month).
  • BC Class 4 Driver’s License and a clear driver’s abstract is an asset.
  • Clear Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening required.
  • Clear Police/RCMP Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening required.

Job description

LOCATION: Hans Helgesen YMCA-YWCA Child Care (4983 Rocky Point Road, Metchosin) VACANCIES: 1 POSITION: Permanent Full Time PLACEMENT: As soon as possible WAGE: ECE: $31.37/hour* (plus benefits - see below) ECE IT/SN: $32.58/hour** (plus benefits - see below) HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 7:00am - 5:30pm

Notes:
  • *These wage rates include the additional $6/hour provided by MECC's ECE Wage Enhancement Program (for qualified candidated)
  • **Additional $3.00/hour available for Class 4 drivers on days assigned to transport children in the Y's vehicle.

Working alongside a dedicated team of professionals, you provide high quality, inclusive care and creative programming for children in a group setting. In collaboration with your co-workers and reporting to the Child Care Supervisor, you plan and implement a child-led, play-based curriculum for children aged 12 months to 5 years. You engage and build meaningful relationships with children, co-workers, families and external stakeholders while ensuring children are well supervised and provided developmentally appropriate, fun choices.

This is a unique opportunity to join our growing team in opening brand new child care programs in the Metchosin community, catering to children from infancy through elementary school!

Major Responsibilities:
