Job summary

NETES, a not-for-profit Indigenous organization in Winnipeg, invites applications for a Child Care Assistant (CCA) at Kookum's Place Daycare. We support daily programming and learning through play-based and culturally grounded approaches.

In this role you will support Early Childhood Educators, help with daily routines, create a safe, welcoming environment, and contribute to relationships with children and families.

  • Support Early Childhood Educators in daily programming and classroom activities.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment.
  • Support children's emotional, social, physical and cognitive development through play and daily activities.
  • Assist with daily routines, including meals, snacks, rest periods, toileting and transitions.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, families and team members.
  • Encourage respectful interactions, communication, and social development among children.
  • Assist with organizing learning materials, classroom set-up and activity preparation.
  • Support culturally respectful and inclusive programming that reflects Indigenous values and ways of knowing.
  • Participate in team meetings, training and ongoing program activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Opportunity

Kookum's Place is an Indigenous-led, community-centred early learning program that strives to support children and families through culturally grounded, relationship-based care. Our approach is rooted in respect, connection, and belonging, with a strong emphasis on play-based and land-based learning.

We are seeking a caring, dependable, and community-minded Child Care Assistant (CCA) to support Early Childhood Educators in providing high-quality childcare and daily programming. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children's growth and well-being in a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Child Care Assistants play an important role in helping children feel safe, supported, valued, and connected while contributing to a collaborative, team-focused childcare environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Early Childhood Educators in daily programming and classroom activities.
