Job summary

Kinark Child and Family Services in Ontario seeks a Child and Youth Worker for a school-based Day Treatment program in Simcoe County. This 10-month relief role reports to the Client Services Supervisor and runs from September to early July, with a summer layoff.

You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, implementing treatment plans for youth, providing crisis management and behaviour support, and participating in clinical team meetings and treatment plan reviews.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Child and Youth Worker Diploma.
• Approximately five years of experience within Mental Health.
• Current and valid First Aid/CPR Level C certificate.
• Familiarity with fundamentals of working with children/youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• Current certification in Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB) considered an asset; training will be provided.
• Medication Administration training is an asset; training will be provided.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong engagement abilities.
• Working knowledge of evidence-informed therapy models and techniques.
• Ability to work with children/youth and families in a culturally sensitive manner.
• Computer literacy and effective report-writing abilities.
• Enthusiasm, versatility, adaptability and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of an inter-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide behaviour management, observation, assessment, intervention, treatment and documentation within a school setting.
• Deliver evidence-based treatment through group sessions and individual programming.
• Provide primary care to 6–12 youth/clients, monitor, document, and administer treatment needs.
• Work collaboratively with Clinical Therapists to help clients achieve treatment goals and practice skills in a school-based setting.
• Provide and receive clinical feedback within inter-disciplinary teams, including regular treatment review meetings.
• Engage in related work in the school community that is not client-specific—classroom relations, interactions with the school body, and home-school/community partners.
• Assist clients and families in utilizing wider resources in the educational system and community and advocate on their behalf.
• Develop and implement individual goals, service actions and indicators to ensure delivery of the specific treatment plan.
• Support clients in meeting academic goals.
• Maintain a therapeutic environment by offering consistent, predictable and supportive structure and behaviour management techniques.

Child and Youth Worker – Day Treatment will report directly to the Client Services Supervisor. Our school‑based Day Treatment program in Simcoe County has a permanent relief position available. This 10‑month position runs from September to early July, with a summer layoff from early July to the end of August.

In this primary‑care role you will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, implement treatment plans for youth, provide crisis management and behaviour support, and participate in clinical team meetings and treatment plan reviews.

Hourly Pay Rate: Level I: $26.97; Level II: $28.52; Level III: $29.77.
