We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with deep expertise in U.S. subsidiary operations, eCommerce, and cross-border finance to lead our global financial strategy and operations.
Key Responsibilities : Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support aggressive growth and scalability.
- Serve as a key advisor to the President and executive team, providing financial insights to drive strategic decisions.
- Lead scenario modeling, business forecasting, and long-range planning across Canadian headquarters and U.S. subsidiary.
Subsidiary & Cross-Border Expertise
- Oversee all financial functions and compliance for the U.S. subsidiary, including tax, payroll, transfer pricing, and intercompany transactions.
- Ensure regulatory compliance across Canadian and U.S. jurisdictions (CRA, IRS, sales tax, etc.).
- Optimize cross-border cash flow, FX risk management, and profit repatriation.
Accounting, Reporting & Compliance
- Own all aspects of financial reporting, including consolidated P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow across all entities.
- Establish robust monthly close processes and reporting cycles for both GAAP and tax compliance.
- Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, and financial institutions.
Budgeting & Operational Finance
- Lead budgeting, financial planning, and cost control processes across departments.
- Partner with operations to optimize inventory, logistics, and payment terms with vendors.
- Support fundraising initiatives and capital structure planning.
- Prepare financial models, and board reporting packages.
Team & Systems Management
- Build and lead a high-performing finance, accounting, and compliance team.
- Own the finance tech stack, including ERP, bookkeeping systems, and eCommerce integrations (e.g., Shopify Plus, etc.).
- Implement and scale internal controls and financial processes.
Qualifications :
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including 3+ years as CFO or equivalent in a high-growth eCommerce or DTC brand.
- Strong U.S. subsidiary experience, ideally with cross-border eCommerce or retail entities.
- Deep knowledge of multi-entity accounting, financial modeling, and international tax.
- Experience supporting high-volume eCommerce operations (Shopify Plus and global logistics a major asset).
- Comfortable in fast-paced, founder-led, creative environments.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
