Location: Hybrid (Toronto or Chatham Office + Remote)

Crescero Natural Capital is redefining farmland investment in Canada. As one of the country’s leading managers of agricultural real assets, we acquire, optimize, and manage farmland through a disciplined approach that delivers financial performance by regenerating and protecting the natural capital — soil, water, and biodiversity — that underpins its productivity.

Our investment strategy bridges ecological stewardship with institutional-grade governance and performance. By actively managing natural capital as a productive asset, we unlock income stability, capital appreciation, and long-term value creation for our investors, farm families, and future generations.

With offices in Chatham and Toronto, Crescero serves a growing community of institutional and private capital partners seeking measurable impact alongside market-rate returns.

The Opportunity

Crescero is seeking a team player with investment industry experience to join Crescero Natural Capital as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This individual will play a critical role in guiding Crescero’s financial and governance strategy through its next phase of institutional growth, while ensuring regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and financial transparency.

We are seeking a mission-aligned executive who brings credibility to the alternative asset management industry, particularly in private markets or real assets, and who thrives in high-integrity, entrepreneurial environments and is comfortable wearing multiple hats.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and capital deployment strategies to support long-term growth.
  • Produce accurate, timely, and investor-ready financial reporting, aligned with institutional standards.
  • Oversee fund and corporate financials, ensuring compliance with IFRS, tax strategy, and regulatory obligations.
  • Support investment structuring, capital allocation, and exit strategy planning in coordination with executive leadership.
  • Build systems to scale financial operations, optimize performance, and enhance margin efficiency.

Governance, Risk, and Compliance

  • Oversee and, as needed, modify internal controls, compliance procedures, and operational risk frameworks.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with auditors, legal counsel, fund administrators, and regulators.
  • Maintain governance standards in line with institutional investor expectations, including reporting, fund oversight, and transparency protocols.
  • Lead Crescero’s regulatory compliance efforts, ensuring alignment with OSC, CRA, and other relevant frameworks.

Strategic Execution

  • Collaborate with the CEO and the board of directors on capital raising initiatives, investor relations, and corporate strategy.
  • Support performance analytics and investment insights that reinforce Crescero’s thesis on natural capital as an investable asset class.
  • Integrate and communicate financial insights into Crescero’s mission-driven approach to land optimization, infrastructure improvements, and ecological restoration.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a candidate who brings credibility, entrepreneurial energy, and values alignment with Crescero’s mission.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of finance experience, preferably in alternative investments, private equity, asset management, or family office environments.
  • A respected presence in Canada’s investment industry with a reputation for integrity, transparency, and execution.
  • Deep knowledge of fund structures, real asset investing, tax strategy, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; capable of translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Experience managing governance frameworks for regulated entities and/or investor-facing funds.
  • CPA, CFA, or other advanced financial credentials required.

What You Bring

  • Strategic acumen and practical wisdom to navigate a growing, entrepreneurial investment platform.
  • A steady hand in governance, with the foresight to anticipate regulatory, reputational, and operational risks.
  • The ability to collaborate cross-functionally — from finance and operations to investor relations and compliance.
  • A commitment to advancing sustainable investing principles through financial discipline and transparency.

Position Structure

  • Role Type: Full Time
  • Work Environment: Hybrid – minimum one day per week in either the Toronto or Chatham office
  • Compensation: Competitive with industry benchmarks, including potential performance incentives and flexibility

Why Join Crescero

  • Be part of Canada’s leading voice in natural capital investing — where ecological restoration meets financial outperformance.
  • Work directly with an entrepreneurial CEO and high-performing leadership team committed to transforming agriculture and investment.
  • Shape the financial and governance platform of a firm, attracting top-tier institutional and private capital.
  • Help build the “missing balance sheet” — where natural systems are managed as productive capital, and stewardship delivers results.
