As a Chief Estimator working in the Building Operations team at Pomerleau Construction, you will support new and ongoing project growth and challenge industry standards with your trade-driven expertise and knowledge. Working on large-scale building and infrastructure projects – ranging from $1 million to upwards of $1 billion – you will work closely with our proposals team and various client groups to secure bids and ensure project success.

What You Will Do

1. Lead the preconstruction phase of local projects, collaborating with stakeholders to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.
2. Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and value engineering analyses to optimize project scope and budget.
3. Manage the bidding process, including soliciting bids, evaluating proposals, and negotiating contracts.
4. Review bid documents, specifications, and drawings for accuracy and compliance.
5. Serve as a primary contact for clients during preconstruction, addressing inquiries and providing updates.
6. Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and stakeholders to establish project goals and design criteria.
7. Supervise and mentor a team of estimators, providing guidance throughout preconstruction.
8. Foster a collaborative, innovative team environment focused on excellence.
9. Identify and assess risks and opportunities, developing strategies to mitigate risks.
10. Conduct risk analyses and feasibility studies to inform planning.
11. Implement process improvements and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and competitiveness.

This role could be for you if you have

• Bachelor's degree or College Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in preconstruction management or lead estimation roles.
• Proficiency with estimating software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Leadership skills with a passion for motivating and mentoring teams.

Additional Assets Include :

• Professional certifications such as PQS or PMP.
• Experience with design-build, CMAR, or P3 project delivery methods.
• Knowledge of sustainable construction and green building certifications.
• Fluency in both French and English, written and oral.
