Your Opportunity

Stantec Geomatics is seeking an experienced licensed Ontario Land Surveyor to be based in Ottawa, ON. This is a leadership position, reporting to the Business Centre Practice Lead which involves the direct supervision of a dedicated team of geomatics project managers, coordinators, technologists and technicians while liaising with clients and team leads from other disciplines within Stantec. This position will appeal to those individuals who enjoy a dynamic work environment where they can manage multifaceted projects. The successful candidate will work closely with regional geomatics leadership and cross disciplinary leadership within Stantec to achieve strategic goals.

Your Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project execution and geomatics operations including:

  • Provide leadership to technical staff within the Ottawa, ON Geomatics team and be responsible for the promotion of a health and safety focused mindset, resource management processes, recruitment, career development, coaching and mentoring, and leadership development.
  • Lead and manage land surveying projects with support from junior professionals and peers on the team.
  • Develop and maintain industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, competitor/team partners, and potential recruits.
  • Lead and coordinate business development efforts and proposals.
  • Assist in the development of the annual business plan and budget for the group.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Understanding of the land surveying industry in Ontario. In particular a thorough understanding of the key business and project drivers for developing opportunities with private industry and all levels of government.
  • Strong leadership and business development skills, including significant experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a client base within a client account management framework. Such experience within a consulting organization is considered a strong asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills with experience delivering high quality presentations.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Solid understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Meeting and exceeding all AOLS Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirements.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • The ability and willingness to travel within Ontario for planned meetings/conferences.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Geomatics, Surveying or related field & Licensed by the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors (AOLS). Minimum of 5 years of licensed experience.
  • Licensed Ontario Land Surveyor, in good standing with the AOLS.
