Job description

Our client located in New Brunswick has an immediate opening for anChemical Plant Superintendent.

Salary Range: $110-120k based on experience

Reporting into the Chemical Plant Manager, the Chemical Plant Superintendent will play a key role to achieve maximum production while meeting health, safety, environment, cost and quality objectives. The successful candidate will work closely with the production, quality and logistic teams to ensure that the department is operated and maintained to the highest standard. The Chemical Plant Superintendent will ensure that all health & safety, environment, cost and human resources objectives are met in compliance with our corporate principles and guidelines, as well as applicable legislation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe workplace and promote continuous improvements on safety and environmental fronts.
  • Review daily operating records to assess department performance versus standards, identify areas for improvement and take required action.
  • Provide guidance to the Operator’s training program.
  • Identify opportunities to support other departments within the organization to improve the overall contribution to the business.
  • Manage programs and initiatives to maintain and improve physical assets to ensure long term viability of the plant.
  • Develop and maintain Capital and Major maintenance plans for the chemical plant.
  • Propose investment strategies for the chemical plant that promote growth and further profitability.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities.
  • Identify and develop outside sales opportunities to improve the contribution of the business unit.
  • Ensure systems and controls are used to monitor costs on a routine basis.
  • Ensure direct reports demonstrate effectiveness in role and are provided development opportunities.
  • Monitor manpower requirements as the business changes and manage accordingly.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
  • 5-10 years’ experience in a management role
  • Should have worked in a Chlor Alkali Facility.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment considered an asset
