Description
The Sort Manager supervises one or more business units within the Warehouse/Sort facility, focusing on regulating sortation. Alongside other managers, the Sort Manager ensures the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the facility.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate employee performance against objectives.
- Assess employee compliance and ensure necessary training.
- Manage employee lifecycle activities: recruitment, promotion, termination.
- Supervise dock staff to meet compliance and standards.
- Track operational and financial metrics weekly and monthly.
- Enforce controls to safeguard assets and reduce risks.
- Participate in health and safety committees.
- Promote a safety culture and adherence to policies.
- Audit equipment and system safety.
- Identify and resolve maintenance and equipment issues.
- Investigate injuries and incidents, implementing corrective actions.
- Manage supply levels and return programs.
- Apply collective bargaining agreements in decision-making.
- Support labor relations discussions with management data.
- Manage partner and vendor relations.
- Model Purolator’s values and culture.
- Promote activities to achieve revenue KPIs.
- Maintain ISO 9001 standards and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities include establishing policies, driving improvements via lean principles, resolving customer issues, providing leadership and training, managing operations and resources, and ensuring compliance and safety standards.
Education
Post-secondary qualification.
Experience
Minimum 5 years in supervisory/management roles, managing 1-40 employees, with experience in automated sortation, unionized environments, safety leadership, project management, and lean methodologies.
Skills
Include transportation, contingency and strategic planning, process improvement, project and people management, safety, compliance, risk management, and more.
