Job Summary

The Chef Comptable works closely with and reports to the Director of Accounting & Financial Reporting. You will act as a manager for the team's accounting technicians and as a business partner with various teams within the company.

Responsibilities

Accounting cycle

• Supervise various accounting activities such as receivables, payables, banks, credit cards, and expense accounts. Ensure deadlines are met for all company subsidiaries (Canadian and international).
• Ensure timely and accurate posting of transactions.
• Follow up with project teams for accounts receivable collection.
• Oversee the preparation of tax returns for the company and its international subsidiaries.
• Help manage the priorities of the team's accounting technicians.
• Support project teams with urgent transactions.
• Support the team with anomaly management.
• Identify training needs of accounting technicians to help develop their skills.

Process

• Optimize the company's accounting processes and those of its subsidiaries.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects for the team's activities.
• Propose recommendations aligned with the company's accounting principles and processes.
• Analyze, develop, and recommend beneficial changes to current processes, utilizing the ERP system and automations for efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of sales tax rules in Canada and the U.S. (international experience is a plus).
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
• Experience in people management and talent development.
• Strong knowledge of ERP systems (NetSuite is a plus).
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Professional proficiency in both French and English, oral and written (necessary for communication with internal and external collaborators).
