Job summary

Southland Transportation in Calgary, Alberta is seeking a Charter Driver to safely transport clients while delivering outstanding customer service. The role requires strong communication, situational awareness, and a professional demeanor.

Shifts may include days, evenings, weekends and overnights. Ideal candidates hold a Class 1 or 2 license (or willing to upgrade), can map-read, and are organized, punctual and reliable. Wage range is $20.50–$27.00 per hour, vehicle-specific.

Qualifications

• Must have, or be willing to obtain, a Class 1 or 2 driver’s license; license upgrade training provided for other classes.
• Possess, or be willing to obtain, Q Endorsement.
• Types of equipment driven can include transit, coach, and school bus; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete charters as assigned.
• Check the charter waybill to confirm details.
• Drive safely and responsibly; be prepared for all road conditions.
• Ensure compliance with Hours of Service.
• Manage workload – ensure all details related to the assigned charter are understood.
• Pre-and-post trip checks of the unit each time it is used.
• Complete all applicable paperwork.
• Maintain radio contact and use proper radio protocol.
• Manage passenger behavior by quickly solving problems.
• Communicate with dispatch at your scheduled time, prepared and ready to go.
• Fuel bus as required; fuel cards are assigned to the individual.
• Maintain a clean bus.
• Complete and submit DVCRs.
• Drop off or pick up units when requested by Operations or Maintenance.
• Assist with school runs, as needed.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, patient, and dedicated.
