An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Band 7 Charge Midwife to join the Labour Suite leadership team at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. This key leadership role is responsible for coordinating the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred maternity care across Labour Suite and associated clinical areas. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will provide clinical and professional leadership, manage staffing and resources, support service development, and ensure the highest standards of care for women, babies and families. The successful candidate will also act as a maternity page holder and deputise for the Senior Charge Midwife as required.
2 x Permanent Roles, 1 x 36 Hours, 1 x 27 Hours (Hours negotiable if not wishing full time) Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Monday - Sunday (Day/Nightshift 24/7)
The post holder will lead and coordinate the delivery of maternity care on a day-to-day and shift-by-shift basis, ensuring women and their families receive safe, effective and compassionate care. Responsibilities include managing staffing levels, workload allocation and resources, leading and mentoring a team of midwives, supporting junior staff and students, and acting as a clinical expert in complex and high-risk maternity care. The role requires effective multidisciplinary working to ensure seamless care pathways, participation in clinical governance, quality improvement, audit and research activities, and the management of incidents, risks and complaints in line with NHS policies. The successful candidate will contribute to service development, child protection processes, public health initiatives and the ongoing enhancement of maternity services, while regularly fulfilling the role of maternity page holder and deputising for the Senior Charge Midwife when required.
