Job description

Cardinal Meats is seeking candidates to fill an immediate opening within our marketing team for the role of Channel Manager – Retail. In this role, the Channel Manager will report to Cardinal’s Director of Marketing.

We’re looking for a self-motivated individual with an intermediate background in retail product development and/or brand management.

Specific accountabilities would include:

  • Develop relevant strategic Retail segment goals with sales teams
  • Provide market intelligence and industry data to develop business cases for new product development
  • Create research and rationale for retail product offerings within current capabilities (outbound)
  • Develop launch support programs and ongoing marketing support/promotional plans for new product introductions
  • Conduct Category Tracking, Review, and Recommendations for the Grocery Retail Channel
  • Collaborate to assess strategy (branded, private label, white label, etc.) for new retail products
  • Provide Sales with market intelligence (trends, competitive reviews, etc.)
  • Design retail packaging programs – graphic design, layout, and structural recommendations
  • Manage retail category – branded SKU optimization
  • Monitor marketing budget and evaluate spend effectiveness on projects
  • Manage and develop external marketing teams (agency partners, photographers, designers, etc.) for retail projects
  • Support marketing services for packaging mock-ups, sell sheets, and presentation materials

The ideal candidate would have:

5-8 years of retail marketing & category management experience, preferably in the food industry

Proven ability to identify market opportunities and develop product lines to maximize them

Background in creating promotional support plans for in-market brands

Ability to analyze market data to lead the organization into new retail categories and segments

Experience leading projects to completion in collaboration with cross-functional teams

Experience working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

Traits of a proactive/self-starter, logical thinker, and team player
