Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Fire Alarm Technician in Calgary, AB to support new and installed fire alarm systems. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment while ensuring safety and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Test, repair, and service a variety of fire alarm systems and equipment with guidance as needed.
  • Identify and resolve problems for most service calls and provide customers with appropriate solutions.
  • Act as a mentor for less experienced staff and provide guidance on testing, inspections, and equipment adjustments.
  • Communicate project requirements and status to project manager; complete work on time per schedules.
  • Perform wiring checkout, system start-ups, and programming using commissioning tools; complete final adjustments and commissioning reports.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed service reports for the customer and Convergint.
  • Represent Convergint as the customer’s best service provider.

Fire Alarm Technician – Calgary, AB

Convergint seeks a full‑time, team‑oriented, results‑driven Fire Alarm Technician to provide customer and technical support for new and installed fire alarm systems that are moderately complex on our campus in Calgary, AB. The role involves troubleshooting, testing, repairing, and maintaining fire alarm equipment while ensuring customer satisfaction and safety compliance.

What You’ll Do with “Our Training and Your Experience”
  • Test, repair, and service a variety of fire alarm systems and equipment with guidance as needed. Use solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
  • Identify and resolve problems for most types of service calls, including emergency calls, and analyze repair requirements to provide customers with appropriate solutions.
  • Act as a mentor for less experienced staff and provide guidance on testing, annual inspections, and equipment adjustment.
  • Communicate project requirements and status, including project change proposals, to project manager/supervisor. Complete work on time and in accordance with project schedules.
  • Perform wiring checkout, system start‑ups, and programming using commissioning tools; complete final adjustments, calibration, and commissioning reports.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed service reports for the customer and Convergint to support invoicing and job cost tracking.
  • Represent Convergint as the customer’s best service provider, ensuring the company is the first choice for service.
What You’ll Need

Requirements
  • CFAA Fire Alarm Technician certification is essential.
  • 3–5 years of commercial experience in product application/installation, start‑up, and commissioning.
  • Degree in electronic technologies (electrical engineering or similar) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Edwards products preferred.
  • Certifications EST3/3X and/or EST4 are excellent assets.
