Job summary

West Fraser is seeking a Certified Welder for our Chetwynd operation. In this role you will maintain safe, reliable welding and mechanical systems across the production line, read blueprints, repair hydraulic equipment, and support preventative maintenance.

The ideal candidate holds a Journeyperson Welding Certification with 3+ years in industrial manufacturing, can work independently, and shows strong organizational and planning skills to prioritize tasks while identifying efficiencies.

Qualifications

  • Valid Journeyperson Welding Certification.
  • 3+ years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Organizational and planning skills to prioritize daily/weekly tasks.
  • Knowledge and skills to recognize opportunities for improvements and savings.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a safe work environment
  • Ensuring consistent operations of equipment
  • Maintenance of pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings and hydraulics involved in the manufacturing process
  • Undertake a preventative maintenance program for equipment
  • Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to repair equipment
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up and repair of equipment and machinery
  • Repair and assemble hydraulic equipment and cylinders
  • Verify and document completed repairs

You’ll Do
  • Maintaining a safe work environment

  • Undertake a preventative maintenance program for equipment

You Have

Compensation Package
  • The hourly pay for this position starts at $50.89
