Job summary

West Fraser is recruiting a Certified Electrician for the High Prairie Lumber sawmill in northern Alberta. You will maintain a safe work environment, ensure reliable operation of electrical equipment, read PLCs, and perform preventative maintenance.

Candidates must have Red Seal and Journeyperson Certification, several years’ experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work with other trades.

• Understanding of Process Controls and Instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe work environment.

• Monitor product quality and provide feedback.
• Read PLC programming for AB PLC5 and ControlLogix 5000.
• Preventative maintenance with small construction projects.
• Troubleshoot equipment with other trades.

West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. “High Prairie Lumber” is currently recruiting for a Certified Electrician position.

You'll Do:

• Maintain a safe work environment
• Ensure consistent operations of all electrical equipment at the sawmill complex
• Verify and document repairs, via computer-based software
• Monitor product quality and provide feedback
• Ability to read Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming, for AB PLC5, Control Logix 5000
• Preventative maintenance with small construction projects
• Troubleshooting various pieces of equipment, with other trades

You have:

• Several years of experience as an electrician
• Candidates must possess a Red Seal Certificate
• A valid Journeyperson Certification is required
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills
• Demonstrated problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
• An understanding of Process Controls and Instrumentation, including but not limited to electric over pneumatic or hydraulic

Considered a strong asset:

• Previous experience working in a sawmill or an industrial environment
• Weekend and/or shift work would be required
