Job summary

Pacekids Programs is seeking a Certified Teacher in Calgary, AB to plan and deliver daily lessons aligned with the Alberta curriculum. You will develop IPPs, mentor CTAs, and collaborate with therapists and families to support each child’s growth.

Qualifications

  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (or recognized equivalent)
  • Experience with young children; experience with children with special needs recommended
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team
  • Valid Alberta driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • First Aid & CPR Level C (or willingness to obtain)
  • Recent (within 6 months) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Welfare Intervention Check

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Alberta Education, Accreditation, and Health & Safety standards.
  • Support transition planning for children moving into Grade 1.
  • Assist with self-help skills as needed (toileting/diapering).
  • Participate in planning meetings, case conferences, and field trip coordination.

Reports To: Manager, ECS
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Location: Calgary, AB

Purpose of Position

Overview of Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver daily lesson plans (circle time, crafts, play centres, etc.) aligned with Alberta Education curriculum.
  • Develop and update IPPs and guide your team to implement goals effectively.
  • Supervise and mentor CTAs, providing coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that supports children’s social, emotional, and academic growth.
  • Collaborate with therapists, families, and the interdisciplinary team to create strategies and solutions.
  • Prepare reports, track progress, maintain documentation, and participate in parent-teacher interviews.
  • Ensure compliance with Alberta Education, Accreditation, and Health & Safety standards.

Position Requirements

  • Experience working with young children; experience with children with special needs is highly recommended.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid Alberta driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Standard First Aid & CPR Level C (or willingness to obtain shortly after hire).
  • Recent (within 6 months) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Welfare Intervention Check.
