Job summary

Canfor Grande Prairie Sawmill is seeking a skilled Certified Millwright with Red Seal Certification to join our team. You will troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mill machinery, including pumps, conveyors, and pneumatic systems, while upholding safety and sustainability standards.

The role operates on a full-time rotating schedule with two weeks of days, two weeks of afternoons, and two weeks of nights, averaging at least 40 hours weekly. A relocation package is available for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Certification required
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Demonstrate a high degree of urgency
• Experience with lumber or industrial manufacturing is an asset
• Experience with welding procedures and equipment reliability is an asset

Responsibilities

• Maintain all mill machinery including pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers and chains, bearings, and pneumatic systems.
• Perform preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance; inspect machinery to detect irregularities and malfunctions; work under pressure.
• Manage time to assemble, move, replace, or dismantle machinery as needed.
• Troubleshoot issues, improve equipment reliability, and implement safe, reliable fixes to keep the mill running.
• Identify and request needed parts for timely repairs.
• Contribute to a safe work environment for coworkers, customers and site visitors.

This role is a full-time rotating, weekday schedule (two weeks of days, 2 weeks of afternoons, and two weeks of nights, or graveyard shift) Minimum of 40 hours per week.

As a Certified Millwright, your responsibilities will include:

• Working with a high-performance team dedicated to maintaining all mill machinery, including pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers and chains, bearings, and pneumatic systems involved in the manufacturing process.
• Keeping our systems running smoothly by performing preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance, which involves inspecting machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions. You should be comfortable working under pressure.
• Effective time management, assessing carefully when to assemble, move, replace, or dismantle machinery.
• Applying your knowledge, skills, and experience to troubleshoot issues, enhance equipment reliability, and implement safe, reliable fixes to keep the mill running.
• Having great attention to detail to identify and request relevant parts for timely repairs.
• Accountability for assisting in creating a safe work environment for coworkers, customers, and site visitors.

For this role, we are looking for candidates who:

• Hold a Red Seal Certification
• Have the physical capability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrate a high degree of urgency.
• Have knowledge of the lumber or industrial manufacturing process (an asset).
• Possess experience with welding procedures and equipment reliability (an asset).
