Position Overview:
The Certified Financial Planner (CFP) will be responsible for providing clients with personalized financial advice and guidance, assisting in the creation and implementation of comprehensive financial plans, and delivering asset management services. The CFP will ensure clients understand their financial strategies and help them achieve their goals by delivering holistic solutions that include retirement planning, investment management, risk management, and tax planning. The ideal candidate will be passionate about client education and putting clients’ best interests first, with a strong ability to translate complex financial concepts into actionable steps.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comprehensive Financial Planning:
- Develop and implement customized financial plans for clients, addressing areas such as retirement, estate, tax, risk management, and cash flow planning.
- Conduct in-depth financial reviews and create strategies that help clients achieve their long-term financial goals.
- Provide guidance on asset allocation, risk management, and other financial strategies to optimize clients’ portfolios.
- Continuously monitor clients’ progress toward their financial goals and recommend adjustments when necessary.
- Client Education & Communication:
- Educate clients about financial planning concepts, helping them understand the importance of different financial strategies and their potential impact.
- Communicate complex financial concepts in a clear, straightforward manner, ensuring clients are comfortable with the financial advice provided.
- Host meetings and presentations to engage clients in discussions about their financial well-being and provide ongoing education about investment options, risk, and financial decisions.
- Provide ongoing portfolio management advice, tailoring investment strategies to client risk profiles and financial objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate client portfolios, ensuring they remain aligned with their financial plan and make adjustments as market conditions or client needs change.
- Work closely with the internal investment team to ensure optimal asset allocation and investment selection for clients.
- Tax & Retirement Planning:
- Advise clients on retirement savings strategies, including tax-advantaged accounts (IRA, 401(k), etc.) and retirement income planning.
- Collaborate with clients to develop tax-efficient strategies for wealth accumulation, estate planning, and other financial goals.
- Work with clients to maximize Social Security benefits, manage required minimum distributions (RMDs), and minimize tax liabilities.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Build long-term relationships with clients, offering ongoing support and periodic reviews of their financial situation.
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing expert advice and maintaining consistent communication to ensure that clients' goals remain the focus of all financial decisions.
- Respond promptly to client inquiries and concerns, ensuring a high level of customer service and client satisfaction.
- Collaboration & Internal Support:
- Work closely with the Relationship Managers and other team members to deliver integrated, high-quality financial services to clients.
- Provide support in onboarding new clients, including helping gather financial data and analyzing financial positions.
- Assist with business development efforts by providing insights into client needs and helping to attract new clients.
Qualifications:
- Must have a current CFP designation, with a deep understanding of financial planning principles, tax strategies, investment planning, and estate planning.
- Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in financial planning, wealth management, or a related field.
- Strong experience in asset management and providing personalized financial advice, especially for clients with significant investable assets.
- Experience with comprehensive financial planning, including retirement, tax, estate, and insurance planning.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to clients of varying financial knowledge.
- Strong analytical skills with a client-centered approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with clients and work collaboratively with internal teams.
- Proficiency in financial planning software and tools; experience with CRM and portfolio management platforms is a plus.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple clients and priorities effectively.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field.
- CFP Certification
- Ongoing professional development and education to stay current with the latest trends in financial planning and investment strategies.
