Job summary

Verve Senior Living in Toronto, Ontario invites skilled cooks to join our dining team. You will prepare fresh meals for residents, plate attractive dishes, and maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen.

You’ll work under the Dining Services Manager to ensure nutritional, safe, and appealing dining experiences. Qualified candidates bring Red Seal certification, English fluency, and experience in high-volume cooking and plating.

Qualifications

• Minimum of grade 12 education required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in large volume cooking, preparation, and plating techniques.
• Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and Red Seal certification; valid regional food handler’s certificate.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
• Familiar with computerized online ordering systems; strong knife and preparation/baking skills.

Responsibilities

• Participates in and adheres to continuous quality improvement standards.
• Cook and prepare food for residents and guests, plate meals per sanitation and safety regulations, and adhere to dietary restrictions.
• Assist with training staff involved in food preparation and service; supervise during absence of Dining Services Manager.
• Complies with infection control processes and outbreak management as directed.
• Receive and store orders, manage inventory of ingredients for residents.
• Assist in purchasing food and supplies when needed.
• Forecast food production and manage leftovers; ensure proper portion control.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food preparation areas; conduct temperature checks and documentation.
• Prepare snack trays for daily functions; maintain communication with staff and residents.
• Performs other duties as assigned and adheres to all policies.
