Job summary

The Courtyard by Marriott Kingston, part of Easton's Group of Hotels, is seeking a driven hospitality professional to manage our Bistro Restaurant team and join our Sales efforts.

This full-time position offers a salary range of CAD 47,000 to CAD 50,000 per year, with benefits, growth opportunities, and a path to advance within one of Canada's successful hospitality groups.

Applicants should have college or beverage management training and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Must speak fluent English.
• Strong communication, reading, writing and math abilities.
• Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card, as required by local law.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate room rates, meeting space, and hotel services within booking guidelines and prepare contracts and catering orders.
• Manage day-to-day staffing, assign work, and set development goals for team members; provide coaching and feedback.
• Ensure guest satisfaction by promptly addressing questions, complaints and requests, maintaining high service standards.
• Oversee storage of food and beverage products, inventory and equipment; minimize waste through timely supplies.
• Assist in developing sales action plans and participate in budgeting/planning processes.

About the Hotel

The Courtyard by Marriott Kingston is a 128-room hotel, owned and operated by Easton's Group of Hotels. Located just off the 401 hwy, it features 2 meeting rooms, the Bistro restaurant and a heated pool with a 100-ft water slide.

Courtyard by Marriott Kingston is looking for someone who is driven and versatile to manage our Bistro Restaurant team and join our Sales team! This is a great opportunity to expand your skills!

What will you be doing?

• Negotiate guest rooms rate, meeting room rental, function space and/or hotel services within approved booking guidelines. Accurately produce and/or review all sales contracts, rate agreements and/or banquet/catering event orders.
• Manage day-to-day staffing requirements, plan, and assign work and establish performance and development goals for team members. Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve team member performance.
• Establish and achieve quality and guest satisfaction goals. Respond courteously and promptly to all guest questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction.
• Ensure the security and proper storage of food and beverage products, inventory and equipment and replenish supplies in a timely and efficient manner minimizing waste.
• Assist in developing and implementing sales actions plan as assigned. May also participate in the annual budgeting and planning process.

What are the requirements for this role?

• Some college and/or advance training in food and beverage management plus 2 years of related experience, including sales or catering, supervisory or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must speak fluent English.
• Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card, as required by local law.
• The ability to carry and lift up to 25 pounds
• Strong communication, reading, writing and math abilities.
