Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking an Assistant Catering Manager in Toronto to lead event logistics and client service. You will create event folders, procure items, coordinate with rental companies, manage catering orders and handle setup, teardown and staffing for events.

You’ll work with Catertrax to customize software, update events, and participate in weekly operations meetings, while maintaining a professional demeanor and flexibility for evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with at least two years of experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Able to communicate effectively and provide strong customer service.
• Able to lift and move up to 30 lbs.
• Experience planning meetings and events, including scheduling and post-event billing.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong planning, organization, problem-solving and multitasking skills.
• Able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Create event folders with labels and include relevant event information.
• Procure all necessary items for catering orders.
• Coordinate with rental companies.
• Manage all catering-related orders.
• Set up, tear down and staffing of events.
• Assist in updating events and proposals to Catertrax.
• Handle client complaints and feedback.
• Provide lead server support when necessary.
• Maintain professional attire on-site when meeting clients.
• Attend weekly operations meetings to review logistics for upcoming events.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Services.
