About the role
We are seeking an experienced Specialist to lead a variety of key procurement activities including managing data and market analytics for the Facilities category, category strategy development and execution, commercial strategy development & execution, source to contract activities and supplier relationship management.

Reporting to the Business Partner – Facilities, your remit will include but is not limited to:

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong customer and stakeholder relationships with various Rio Tinto business units, in particular operations in Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia, to ensure all consumer/stakeholder needs and requirements are met

  • Ensure execution of improvement initiatives to reach and exceed business plans

  • Identify and develop category management opportunities within Australia.

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Working across the end-to-end procurement process, driving local procurement outcomes and sourcing for operations and capital projects

  • Support Momentum Opportunity Tracking including finalisation of actuals against planned opportunities.

What you’ll bring
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the following:

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team

  • Extensive hands-on experience in Procurement

  • Proficient and skilled in framing opportunities and analysis to refine presentations and projects for development and execution.

  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to summarise key information to deliver clear key messages to diverse audiences.

  • Strong negotiation skills to develop agreements for facilities operations with commercial terms that maximise value and minimise risk exposure for Rio Tinto.

  • Contribute to an integrated team to deliver joint deliverables with input from diverse internal stakeholders.

  • Ability to Partner with key external suppliers and stakeholders to co-develop projects and supply opportunities centred on achieving Rio Tinto’s strategic objectives.

  • Tertiary Degree or equivalent qualification in a related discipline including business, commerce or Law. A CIPS Certificate or Diploma in Purchasing or Supply is desirable
