The Role
The Category Lead will focus on developing, implementing, and managing the Category Management function within OSI’s Supply Chain. This role is responsible for establishing a category management strategy based on data analysis to support OSI’s current and future products and services. Key activities include data analysis, strategic sourcing, conducting competitive procurements, contract negotiations, vendor performance management, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of long-term supply strategies for critical purchased parts.
- Identify supply strategies based on a category management model, including sourcing, supplier selection, negotiation, and contract execution.
- Lead categories of supply from start to finish, including understanding programmatic requirements, demand analytics, strategic sourcing, order management, stakeholder collaboration, risk management, and continuous improvement.
- Understand procurement practices such as RFI, RFQ, and RFP, and apply them based on the scope of work.
- Manage complex supply contracts and leverage supplier performance management best practices.
- Lead negotiations for complex supply contracts, understanding key terms and creating negotiation strategies.
- Source and evaluate new suppliers, including site visits.
- Maintain positive supplier relationships aligned with OSI's strategic objectives, including KPI measurement and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with PMO, Production, and Support teams to meet organizational and production needs.
- Organize and lead meetings on complex topics, steering discussions towards objectives and ensuring clear action items.
- Manage return processes for defective materials and oversee vendor repairs or replacements.
- Maintain supply chain governance documentation, including policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Generate periodic reports and KPIs as required.
- Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of category products.
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems effectively to support supply chain practices.
You Bring
- A university degree in a relevant discipline and at least five years of experience in Supply Chain Management or equivalent.
- Supply Chain Management certification or designation preferred (e.g., CPIM, SCMP, CPSM, P.Log).
- Experience with complex processes such as lean manufacturing, ISO, JIT, and MRP/ERP systems (experience with Epicor is an asset).
- Experience managing purchase orders, supplier contracts, RFx, and vendor scorecards.
- Procurement and supply contract management experience in engineering or technical environments, preferably in manufacturing or product development (marine experience is an asset).
