Job summary

Shoppers Drug Mart is seeking a Category Assistant for Prestige Beauty in Toronto. You will support product data, financials, and admin tasks to drive category performance and partnerships with vendors.

You will help maintain listings, prepare merchandising plans, and ensure accurate communications across marketing, digital, and store teams. A detail-oriented, organized, and proactive mindset is essential for success.

Responsibilities

• Enter, maintain and monitor critical information including sales and financial data for reports.
• Complete forms for article onboarding, vendor profiles and cost changes.
• Maintain product listing information and ensure accuracy.
• Prepare worksheets for flyers, merchandising plans and seasonal data.
• Edit flyers and seasonal marketing materials for accuracy.
• Support Marketing Call Centre to resolve issues promptly.
• Distribute communications to stores with category updates.
• Coordinate with Digital, Marketing, Planogram, Logistics, Inventory and Promotions to resolve issues.
• Gather data from multiple vendors to prepare worksheets for seasonal and core programs.
• Liaise with vendor community to ensure on-time delivery of materials.
• Work with Digital team on on-time execution and product delivery of new brands online.
• Assist Category Director in Market meetings and visual reviews using analytics.

Category Assistant, Prestige Beauty

Reporting to the Category Director, the Category Assistant, Prestige Beauty supports the product, financial, and administrative activities that drive the success of the Prestige Beauty business. This role plays a key part in category execution by maintaining accurate product and financial information, coordinating cross-functional initiatives, supporting supplier partnerships, and delivering timely reporting and communications.

Duties:

• Enters, maintains and monitors all critical information including key sales and financial data to prepare and analyze weekly/periodic/ad hoc sales reports.
• Completes all required forms including article on-boarding forms, vendor profiles and cost change information to ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate.
• Enters, maintains and monitors all critical products listing information to ensure details are accurate and updated as necessary.
• Prepares and submits worksheets for flyers, various merchandising plans and seasonal spreadsheets to include accurate estimates, sales, deal and retail information.
• Enters information, proofs and edits flyer and other seasonal marketing initiatives to ensure accuracy and make adjustments as required.
• Provides support to Marketing Call Centre to resolve issues or concerns in a timely and efficient manner.
• Prepares and distributes communications for stores to ensure category information or updates are provided in a timely manner.
• Monitors andliaiseswith relevant departments including, Digital, Marketing, Planogram, Logistics, Inventory and Promotions to resolve issues or concerns in an efficient and timely manner.
• Gathers and compiles data/info from multiple vendors to prepare worksheets for submission for all seasonal and core programs.
• Liaises with vendor community to ensure on-time delivery of all required materials to drive the category sales and growth.
• Works closely with Digital team to ensure on-time execution and product delivery of new brands and items online.
• Assist the Category Director, when required, in preparing for Market meetings, Visual Reviews and other meetings as needed by leveraging business tools and analytics.

This position requires an advanced level of initiative and judgment in order to organize and prioritize tasks, workload and projects. Courtesy, tact and diplomacy are required in dealing with colleagues in every day working relationships.

• Database management
• Adaptable to set and prioritize work with varying exceptions. Able to work with diverse personalities and styles.
• Communicates with clarity, verbally and in one on one or group situations, or over the telephone. Facility with editing and/or proof-reading is required.
• Knowledge of category management and merchandising practices and principles
• Working knowledge of SAP considered an asset
• Curiosity about the Beauty industry and key trends
