Job summary

Aviva Canada is seeking a Catastrophe Claims Adjuster to help clients navigate challenging times with care and expertise. You will review policies, investigate claims, and negotiate settlements across property claims, using Xactimate and on-site inspections where required.

This role supports a world-class team with a strong focus on customer service and data accuracy. You will travel across Canada as needed, including up to 30 days away, and enjoy a hybrid work model, competitive compensation,

Qualifications

  • College or University degree, or CIP designation.
  • 3+ years of property personal and commercial experience.
  • Knowledge of building construction and estimating software.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel across Canada on short notice and stay away up to 30 days.

Responsibilities

  • Review facts, policy, technical reports, fire marshal's reports, case law, and make decisions on coverage, value of first-party claims, and negotiate/settle the claims accordingly.
  • Investigate by meeting with insureds, third parties, witnesses, and lawyers to acquire facts and information.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and keep related parties advised of the claims status.
  • Ensure data accuracy, issue payments to insureds, vendors, and other relevant parties.
  • Negotiate and reconcile contractor estimates to arrive at an appropriate scope of repair and settlement.
  • Conduct physical inspections of damaged properties, including taking photographs, using a drone, crafting diagrams, and completing a scope of damage and estimate using Xactimate estimating software.
  • Identify large losses, questionable claim indicators, and subrogation opportunities early.
  • Maintain accurate reserving of claims files.

What You'll Do

Your success as a Catastrophe Claims Adjuster will be determined by your ability to:

  • Accurately assess and settle moderate to high complexity property claims.
  • Ensure timely and effective communication with all collaborators.
  • Maintain high standards of data accuracy and claims file management.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service, ensuring client happiness.
What You'll Bring
  • College or University degree, or CIP designation.
  • Prior customer service experience, preferably with face-to-face interaction.
  • 3+ years of property personal and commercial experience.
  • Knowledge of building construction and estimating software.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to travel across Canada at a moment's notice and work away from home for up to 30 days at a time.
  • Capability to work extended hours and weekends 365 days/year.
  • Valid driver's license.
What You’ll Get
  • The salary band for this position ranges from $85,000 to $100,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
