Connective is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our nonprofit organization in the role of Casual Residence Support Worker for our Youth and Adult programs in Vancouver.

ROLE PURPOSE
In this role, you will build relationships with individuals, assist them in achieving their goals, and ensure their emotional, social, physical, and medical needs are met.
Our Community Inclusion programs help individuals access services and build community connections, supporting them to develop life skills. We work one-on-one with service users to encourage goal setting and achievement, fostering independence and community engagement. Support may include employment, housing, relationship building, and recreational activities.
HOURS
Mornings (08:00 – 16:00)
Evenings (16:00 – 00:00)
Overnights (00:00 – 08:00)
- Casual employees must be available for at least 21 shifts per month, including 7 overnight shifts.
- Full-time or full-time students are asked for 15 shifts per month, including five overnight shifts (proof of employment or enrollment required).
- Flexible hours during daytime, evenings, and weekends are required based on operational needs.
Key AccountabilitiesAs a Residence Support Worker, your responsibilities include:
- Providing input on care plans to the Program Manager and staff
- Acting as a positive role model, providing emotional support, behavior management, and helping individuals achieve their goals
- Identifying community services related to social, economic, recreational, employment, and educational needs
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists and psychiatrists, to develop and adjust treatment plans
- Monitoring and ensuring effective facility operations, including quality control, maintenance, inventory, and food services
Qualifications and RequirementsCandidates should meet the following qualifications:
- Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license (ability to drive multiple clients)
- Experience working with high-risk individuals with diagnoses such as autism spectrum disorders, FASD, ADHD, trauma, or behavioral challenges
- Ability to respond effectively in crisis situations
- Diploma in behavioral sciences, social work, human services, psychology, or related field
- Ability to follow safety and behavioral support plans to de-escalate challenging behaviors
- Experience providing trauma-informed support in challenging environments
- Strong communication skills in English
- Current Emergency First Aid Certificate (refer to accepted certificates in BC - WorkSafe)
- Successful criminal record check and reference checks
CompensationStarting wage is $25.95/hour plus 10.6% in lieu of vacation pay and benefits. Wages increase after every 2,000 hours worked, up to $29.76/hour.
Important: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, observe weekly hours limits if on a temporary or study visa, and provide proof of eligibility if selected.
