Casual Support Residence Worker, Youth & Adult Programs

Connective is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our forward-thinking nonprofit organization as a Casual Residence Support Worker in our Youth and Adult programs in Vancouver.

ROLE PURPOSE

In this role, you will build relationships with individuals, assist them in achieving their goals, and ensure that their emotional, behavioral, social, physical, and medical needs are met.

Our Community Inclusion programs help individuals access services and build community connections, supporting them to develop vital life skills. We work one-on-one with service users to identify, work toward, and achieve their goals, fostering greater independence and active community engagement. Community-based outreach may include employment, housing, building healthy relationships, and pursuing social and recreational opportunities.

HOURS

Mornings (08:00 – 16:00)
Evenings (16:00 – 00:00)
Overnights (00:00 – 08:00)

  • Casual employees must be available for at least 21 shifts per month, including 7 overnight shifts.
  • If working full-time or as a full-time student, a minimum of 15 shifts per month, with five overnight shifts, is required (subject to employer or enrollment proof).
  • Positions require flexible hours during daytime, evenings, and weekends based on operational needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

As a Residence Support Worker, your responsibilities include:

  • Providing input to the Program Manager and staff on care plans to meet residents’ objectives
  • Serving as a positive role model, offering emotional support, behavior management, and assisting individuals in achieving their goals
  • Identifying community services related to social, economic, recreational, employment, and educational needs
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists and psychiatrists, to develop and adjust individualized treatment plans
  • Monitoring and ensuring effective facility operation, including quality control of cleaning, maintenance, inventory, and food services with other residence staff

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

We seek candidates who meet the following qualifications:

  • BC Valid Class 5 driver’s license (ability to drive multiple clients)
  • Experience working with high-risk individuals with diagnoses such as autism spectrum disorders, FASD, ADHD, trauma, and behavioral challenges
  • Ability to respond effectively in crisis and escalated situations
  • Diploma in behavioral sciences, social work, human services, psychology, or child & youth care preferred
  • Ability to follow safety and behavioral support plans to deescalate challenging behaviors
  • Experience providing trauma-informed support
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills in English
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Records/MCDF Clearance Check and references

COMPENSATION

The starting wage is $25.95/hour plus 10.6% in lieu of vacation pay and benefits (for casual positions). Wages increase with hours worked, up to $29.76/hour after 2,000 hours.

IMPORTANT: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, observe weekly hours limits if on a temporary or study visa, and provide proof of eligibility if selected.
