Landscapers By Nature Ltd. (LBN) in Calgary is hiring a Casual Snow Removal Labourer for the winter season. Shifts are on a call-list basis with earliest start at 6:00 AM, offering day work only, and no guaranteed hours.

This role supports the full-time crew during heavy days and busy periods, helping you earn extra cash and stay active. Ideal candidates are physically fit, safety-conscious, and reliable team players who can read maps, follow procedures, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to snow and ice events.

• Pile snow in designated locations only.
• Document any hazards or obstacles on site.
• Participate in pre-shift inspections and equipment maintenance.
• Wear appropriate PPE at all times.

Position Type & Schedule:

This role is for casual, flexible work only, starting in October and ending in May. The successful applicant(s) will be on a call list, and offered shifts when our operations requires additional help. In ideal circumstances, shifts will be arranged with a few days notice, however contact may be made with short notice. There are no set or guaranteed hours with this position.

Position Overview:

The Casual Snow Removal Labourer is responsible for supplementing our full time staff on heavier days, when we need extra help, or on days where we are short staffed. This role is great for someone who wants to earn extra cash, and get a great workout in while doing it.

Job Duties:

• Respond promptly to calls for snow and ice events
• Prepare and show up for shifts free from the influence of any drugs, alcohol, or medicines that influence safety or productivity
• Clear snow and ice accumulations from customer sites from designated areas using shovels, snowblowers, salt spreaders and bagged salt
• Pile snow in designated and approved locations only
• Document and report any obstacles or hazards on site(s)
• Participate in pre-shift inspections, hazard assessments and maintenance on all small equipment
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
• Comply with all company policies and procedures
• Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations

• Ability to read and interpret maps
• Physically fit with strong stamina
• Ability to follow safe working procedures
• Good observation skills and attention to detail
• Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Strong adherence to our safety policies and protocol
• Legally authorized to work in Canada

Work Conditions:

• Physically demanding shifts of 10-12 hours
• Fast paced environment
• Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
• Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold
• Flexible working hours including weekend and holiday work (Holiday work is rare, only in necessary conditions)

Preference given to individuals that:

• Have done outdoor labour work before, and understand the challenges that come with it
• Have previous snow removal experience with an established company
• Have a wide range of experience with snow removal equipment
• Have little to no schedule restrictions
• Have a valid Class 5 license & reliable transportation to work
