Job summary

The SSI Group is seeking a skilled nurse to support the Director of Care in maintaining high-quality resident care in our Ontario facility.

The role involves planning, assessments, medication administration, team leadership and close collaboration with physicians, families and care staff. Strong communication and adaptability in a geriatric setting are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and hold Medication Administration Certification.
• CPR and First Aid Certification required.
• Experience in geriatric settings preferred.
• Excellent communication and supervisory abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Care in planning, development, organization, implementation and evaluation of resident care quality.
• Deliver and receive shift reports at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Participate in development of healthcare plans for each resident and ensure they are carried out, reviewed and revised as necessary.
• Perform initial and ongoing nursing assessments of residents’ needs.
• Carry out constant surveillance of residents’ physical and emotional well‑being and account for each resident on each shift.
• Administer and/or supervise medication as ordered by attending physicians.
• Assist residents with personal care as required.
• Chart any unusual symptoms and/or observations.
• Call residents’ physician when necessary.
• Orders, administers and stores medication and treatment in compliance with Riverstone RC policies, pharmacy and College of Nurses of Ontario standards.
• Provide orientation to all new hires and direct, assign and evaluate the work of PSW/HCA.
• Ability to manage the department in the absence of the Director of Care (staffing, equipment breakdown, supply ordering and receiving).
• Liaise with other health care personnel, agencies and families as required.
• Assist in orientation of residents, family members and nursing staff.
• Complete audits and reports as required.
