Job summary

ʔaq̓am in Cranbrook, BC, is seeking a Responsible Adult to support our daycare centre. You will provide developmentally appropriate childcare for infants, toddlers and preschool children aged 1-3, and deliver engaging learning activities.

Working with a cohesive team of staff, management, parents and community members, you will help children gain independence, communicate with families, and contribute to a vibrant Indigenous community.

Qualifications

• Experience providing quality childcare is required.
• Pay is $20-24 per hour plus vacation pay.
• This role requires onsite presence in Cranbrook, BC.

About theOpportunity

In collaboration with the Daycare Manager, theResponsible Adultwill assist the Daycare Centre to do its part in preparing our infants, toddlers and pre-school children of today to become our next generation of Ktunaxa professionals, trades people, parents, chiefs, councillors, artisans and more.

Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide quality childcare as well as plan and carry out developmentally and age appropriate educational activities to engage children aged 1-3 years in learning;
• Help children complete daily tasks and routines to gain independence and provide constant feedback and communication to build self-esteem;
• Function as a member of our cohesive, positive, flexible and exuberant team, which includes staff, management, parents, and community members.

More About You

In order to qualify for theResponsible Adult role, experience providing quality childcare is required. Pay is $20-24 per hour plus vacation pay. Up to date immunization records and completion and possession of Valid CPR and First Aid Certificate. Proof of a clear criminal record including vulnerable sector check. Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience working in a similar capacity, supervising and working with children; experience developing learning activities would be an asset. Working towards an Early Childhood Education (ECE)Certification and licence to practice would be an asset.

Preference will be given to candidates of Ktunaxa or other Indigenous ancestry andʔaq̓amencourages applicants to self-identify within your application.

This is a role that requires onsite presence in Cranbrook, BC.
