Job summary

Pro Vita Care Management is seeking a Casual Recreation/Activity Aide for Agassiz Seniors Community in Agassiz, BC. The role supports residents through therapeutic recreation programs, arts and crafts, and social activities.

Certification in Recreation/Activity is required, along with CPR A and First Aid, and a valid BC Class 4 license where applicable. The position offers paid hours at $31.64 per hour, with flexible day shifts and opportunities for growth within the care team.

Qualifications

• Recreational/Activity Certification or combination of experience/training.
• Valid Class 4 BC driver’s license where applicable.
• Occupational First Aid Level 1 including CPR A.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
• Criminal record check on hire and every 5 years thereafter.
• Ability to communicate in English, verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Participates in creating and implementing therapeutic recreation programs (arts, exercise, music, crafts, outings, social activities).
• Teaches, directs and demonstrates activities to residents and volunteers.
• Transfers, ambulates residents to activities and supports ambulation programs as directed by therapists.
• Assists residents at meals, including feeding.
• Assists with admissions, discharges and transfers as required.
• Provides input on planning and evaluating programs via resident feedback to Recreation Coordinator/Manager.
• Completes recording/statistical sheets of activities and attendance.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Must Have Qualifications - Are YOU the Right Fit?

• Graduation from a recognized institution with a Recreational/Activity Certification or combination of experience/training.
• Holds and Maintains a Valid Class 4 BC driver’s license, as applicable to care home needs.
• Maintains Valid Occupational First Aide Level 1 Certificate including CPR “A”.
• Satisfactory proof of COVID-19 vaccinations.
• Passes and complies with Ministry of Justice Criminal record Check upon hire and every 5 years thereafter.
• Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbal and written.
• Experience working with seniors is preferred.

• Teaches, directs and demonstrates activities to residents and volunteers.
• Transfers, porters and ambulates residents to and from activities. Implements ambulation programs as designed/designated by Occupational or Physiotherapy or rehab worker.
• Assists residents at meals, including feeding.
• Assists with admissions, discharges and transfers of residents as required.
• Provides input into planning and evaluating recreation programs by reporting observations and resident feedback to the Recreation Coordinator/Manager.
• Completes recording/ statistical sheets on activities including attendance at each activity.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
