Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Edmonton is seeking a Casual Maintenance Assistant to perform routine repairs and minor maintenance at Our Parents' Home facility. The role supports residents with safe, reliable upkeep and a clean, welcoming environment.

You will work on electrical, plumbing, heating systems, painting and carpentry, and assist with grounds upkeep. Regular safety checks and reporting to the Maintenance Manager are required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to self regulate and work independently.
• Capable of physical duties including movement of heavy objects.
• Familiar with minor repairs to facility and equipment.
• Knowledge in plumbing, electrical, heating, water, gas, mechanical, plastering and painting.
• Able to maintain and manage a budget with cost tracking.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety with Vulnerable Sector Check requirement.

Responsibilities

• Executes routine repairs and minor maintenance on electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and building systems.
• Paints, performs minor carpentry, and maintains exterior grounds.
• Inspects premises for maintenance and safety and files reports with supervisor.
• Adheres to facility policies, safety rules, and practices.
• Performs housekeeping and maintenance duties as required while assigned handyman responsibilities.
• Works in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents).
• Upholds the organization’s values, ethics, morality, and integrity.
• Completes other duties as assigned.
