Job summary

Touchmark at Wedgewood in Edmonton is a leading full-service retirement community, enriching residents’ lives through five-star hospitality, services and amenities. We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Health Services team and provide dignified, high-quality care.

As the LPN, you will mentor care staff, coordinate care plans, and work with a nursing team to ensure residents receive compassionate, professional care day and night, with a preference for night shifts.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in caring for aging residents in geriatric settings.
• Current LPN license.
• Team-oriented approach to designing and implementing care plans.
• Ability to read and write English to follow and give instructions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, mentor and coach care staff and assist in making educated care decisions.
• Provide hands-on nursing care for residents in Health Services Neighborhood.
• Assess health status and develop individualized service plans with the nursing team.
• Develop trust and open communication with families and provide health information.
• Complete required paperwork with accuracy.
• Observe residents and report observations professionally.
• Turn, bend, and move equipment and assist with related tasks.
• Identify problems and needs for improvement.
• Collect data from residents, families, health care providers and others.
• Assist with orientation of new employees.

We are currently seeking the right person to join our team as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with Touchmark, you will enrich lives every day by ensuring residents in our Health Services neighborhood receive the highest level of dignity and care.

As the LPN, you will support our nursing team in coordinating all clinical care and ensuring the residents receive the highest quality of care.

Working in a Health Services community provides you the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with residents and team members through daily interactions.

The ideal candidate would be willing to work nights.

Ideal Candidate

• Have a genuine interest in caring for aging residents and working in a geriatric environment
• Possess a current LPN license.
• Enjoy being part of a team, as this person will work closely with a team of nurses to design and implement care plans for each resident.
• Ability to read and write English in order to follow and give oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assess the health status of residents, as needed, and work with the nursing team and health services team to develop and review individualized service plans

• Must be able to complete required paperwork and filing with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to observe resident's behavior and to communicate observations in a professional and intelligent manner.
• Physically capable of turning, stooping, bending, stretching, and moving equipment and performing other related tasks.
• Be able to assess nursing care given by yourself and non-professional staff members.
• Be able to identify problems and or need for improvement.
• Be able to collect data from resident, family and significant others, health care providers, individuals, and or agencies in the community.
• Assist with the orientation of new employees.
