Job summary

Peter Ballantyne Child & Family Services Inc. is seeking two casual Group Home Workers for the Pelican Narrows Group Home 1. You will provide a safe, nurturing, structured living environment and model positive values for residents.

Responsibilities include monitoring activities, maintaining daily logs, transporting children to appointments and events, and participating in all group home operations. A Grade 12 or GED, a social work certificate or equivalent, and a satisfactory background/abuse

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 or GED 12.
• Certificate of Social Work or equivalent training with /or experience in the Child & Family Services area / related field.
• Proven Maturity, Stability & Commitment to protecting children.
• Willingness to participate in training & travel when required.
• Willingness to learn & work with high risk & special needs children.
• Willingness to do shift work including weekends & statutory holidays.
• Excellent written, oral communication & public speaking skills.
• Employment will be determined based on a satisfactory police record check.
• Valid driver’s license & access to a vehicle.
• Knowledge of the Cree culture, language, political & social objectives of Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation.

• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.

Responsibilities

• Performing day-to-day childcare functions, including base parenting duties such as providing the residents with safe, nurturing, & structured living environment, transmitting appropriate values, & meeting the residents’ emotional & physical needs.
• Monitoring activities & Providing feedback through written & verbal reports, & keeping daily logs
• Ensuring a high standard of care of all children, youth & families is maintained in all facilities
• Ensuring youth understand the value of the program in which they are placed
• Participating in all aspects of the operations of the Group Home
• Transporting children to appointments, school, trips, etc.
