Job summary

Extendicare Guildwood Home in Scarborough, Ontario, is hiring a part-time Dietary Aide. You will assist with plating, serving meals, and maintaining serving areas, following established policies and safety standards.

Dietary Aide at Extendicare Guildwood Home, located in Scarborough, Ontario. The role assists with plating and serving meals, cleaning serving areas and equipment, and following established policies, procedures, and standards.

Responsibilities

• Serves food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
• Observes time limits for meal serving.
• Maintains foods at proper serving temperature.
• Prepares simple foods such as breakfast items, basic desserts, and garnishes following basic instructions.
• Clears plates and trays, loads, and operates the dishwasher.
• Cleans pots, pans, and cooking utensils as per procedure.
• Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
• Adheres to departmental policies regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, environment, and infection control.
• Assembles nourishment carts and stocks unit kitchenettes.
• Participates in facility meetings as assigned.
• Attends in‑service education programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned by FSS/FSM.

Qualifications

• Current Food Handler's Certificate (asset).
• Previous dietary experience in a long‑term care home (0‑1 year) preferred (asset).
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to read and write English and understand simple verbal and written instructions in English.
• Must be able to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.
• Must be able to lift moderate to heavy loads.
• Successful candidates must be available for workdays, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
