Job summary

Fraser Health Authority is hiring a Casual Diagnostic Medical Sonographer for Burnaby Hospital. You will perform abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, and vascular ultrasound exams, ensuring safety and quality of imaging in a patient-centered environment.

The role requires certification in Medical Diagnostic Sonography (Sonography Canada or ARDMS) and IV Therapy training as applicable, with opportunities for professional development within Fraser Health.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of a recognized training program in Medical Diagnostic Sonography and certified with Sonography Canada or the ARDMS.
• Or certified with Sonography Canada and have passed the Sonography Canada Skills Assessment (CCSA).
• Completion of IV Therapy training or applicable experience when required by site practice.

Responsibilities

• Performs ultrasound examinations of abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular and small parts, with Doppler as required.
• Receives requisitions, reviews clinical history and ensures accurate data entry and image labeling.
• Assists radiologists in procedural rooms and maintains patient comfort during procedures.
• Checks image quality, documents results, and coordinates with the radiology team for workflow.
• Maintains safety, monitors equipment and participates in quality control.
