Job summary

GardaWorld is seeking a Casual Data Centre Security Guard to support a high-profile data centre client in the Calgary region. You will help maintain security, perform patrols, monitor access, and respond to incidents.

The role offers flexible shifts, training through GardaWorld Academy, and opportunities to grow into a permanent position. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and hold a valid Alberta Security Licence.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in Canada.
• Valid Alberta Security Services Licence.
• Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident and have resided in Canada for at least 5 years for client requirements.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a Reliability Status Security Clearance.
• Strong communication, report-writing and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable using technology, access control systems and surveillance platforms.
• Able to stay calm and make decisions in emergencies.
• Physically capable of foot patrols and standing/walking for extended periods.
• Willing to work rotating 8–12 hour shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Reliable transportation required as sites are not accessible by public transit.
• Experience in security, industrial, data centre, or access control is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols to identify risks and hazards.
• Monitor CCTV surveillance and respond to incidents.
• Operate and monitor security management systems.
• Manage access control systems and credentials.
• Control entry/exit points and ensure only authorized personnel access.
• Respond to alarms and emergencies.
• Prepare incident reports and shift handover documentation.
• Assist employees, contractors and visitors while enforcing site policies.
• Coordinate with site management and emergency services when required.
• Ensure security equipment remains operational and report issues promptly.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a sophisticated security environment where you'll gain experience with advanced security systems, access control administration, and surveillance monitoring. Successful candidates will be cross-trained across three security areas and provide coverage for vacations, absences, and additional operational needs.

Responsibilities for Casual Data Centre Security Guard

• Conduct regular patrols to identify and report security risks, suspicious activities, and safety hazards.
• Monitor CCTV surveillance systems and respond promptly to security incidents.
• Operate and monitor security management systems.
• Manage access control systems, including issuing, programming, monitoring, and deactivating access cards.
• Control and monitor entry and exit points, ensuring only authorized personnel access the facility.
• Respond to alarms, emergencies, and access control violations.
• Complete accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and shift handover documentation.
• Assist employees, contractors, and visitors while enforcing site security policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with site management and emergency services when required.
• Ensure all security equipment and systems remain operational and report technical issues promptly.

Qualifications for Casual Data Centre Security Guard

• Authorized to work in Canada
• Valid Alberta Security Services Licence.
• Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident and have resided in Canada for a minimum of five (5) years due to client contractual and security requirements.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a Reliability Status Security Clearance.
• Strong communication, report‑writing, and problem‑solving skills.
• Comfortable using technology, access control systems, and surveillance platforms.
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
• Physically able to conduct foot patrols and stand/walk for extended periods.
• Available to work rotating shifts of 8 to 12 hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Reliable transportation is required, as the sites are not accessible by public transit.
• Previous security, industrial, data centre, or access control experience is an asset.
• Dependable, flexible, and willing to work across all three locations in Balzac, Rocky View County, and Calgary’s SE Industrial area to support operational, vacation, and leave coverage.
