Job description

Overview

REAL ALLOY is the market leader in third-party aluminum recycling and specification alloy production. We have 17 plants strategically located across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. We convert aluminum scrap and by-products into reusable aluminum metal for a growing number of applications across various industries. We are ideally positioned to respond to the needs of an increasingly recycling-conscious world. Advanced technologies enable us to process a large variety of scrap and dross and reduce the amount of residual waste from aluminum manufacturing that would otherwise end up as landfill. This position will be located in MISSISSAUGA, CANADA.

Responsibilities

The Casthouse Operator team is responsible for the individual tasks required to produce aluminum products in accordance with quality specifications, safety policies and standardized work procedures. Each Casthouse Operator is assigned a specific set of tasks depending on product line needs.

You’ll handle tasks like maintaining clean driving paths, inspecting equipment, preparing molds and tools, and setting up troughs for pouring processes. Operating robotic arms, troubleshooting minor issues, and conducting quality inspections to remove defective products will be part of your daily responsibilities. You’ll also skim sow molds, stack ingots, strap bundles, and operate a counterbalance forklift as needed, all while ensuring quality standards through testing and mentoring new operators. Your proactive approach will keep workspaces organized and hazard-free, contributing to overall team success. With competitive pay, professional development opportunities, and a supportive team, this is your chance to thrive in a cutting-edge facility. Apply now and make an impact!

Qualifications

To succeed as a Casthouse Operator, candidates should possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and demonstrate the ability to take initiative and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They must be comfortable and safety-conscious when working around molten aluminum materials, maintaining situational awareness to navigate mobile equipment paths and molten aluminum processing areas safely. This role requires flexibility to work on a 2-week rotational shift schedule, covering mornings, nights, and afternoons. Proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English is essential to ensure seamless operations and team collaboration. These qualities are vital for maintaining safety and efficiency in a dynamic, high-risk environment.

The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not construed to be an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by the personnel so classified.
