Job summary

Bass Pro Shops is seeking a cashier to engage customers at the checkout, handle payments accurately, and promote Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s programs. You will use POS and SAP systems to complete transactions, resolve customer issues, and assist in various store tasks. Customer service orientation and reliability are essential for success.

The role emphasizes friendly interactions, product knowledge, and adherence to cash-handling policies while contributing to a legendary guest experience.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering friendly, efficient customer service.
• Ability to handle payments accurately and follow cash procedures.
• Familiarity with SAP or similar inventory/POS systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet and engage customers at checkout with a friendly, enthusiastic approach.
• Process debit, credit, gift cards and cash transactions following policy.
• Explain Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s programs and services.
• Utilize POS and SAP to complete transactions quickly and accurately.
• Resolve issues and escalate to a Manager on Duty when needed.
• Assist in store operations and opening/closing duties as needed.

Job description

Summary:

Reporting to the Retail Manager - Operations, Cashiers will greet and engage customers during the checkout process, process customer funds accurately and appropriately, while explaining additional Cabela’s services and processes.

Responsibilities:

• Greet and engage customers in a friendly and enthusiastic manner
• Provide a legendary experience for every customer and promoting Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s programs
• Use Point-Of-Sale and Inventory (SAP) computer systems to accurately and quickly complete customer transactions following all policies, including those requiring identification and age checks
• Process customer payment using debit, credit card, gift cards, and cash
• Respond and resolve customer issues by using good judgment and logic in solving problems and making decisions within the job scope
• Assist asset protection in following all procedures and policies, including checking inside products, checking for price switches, remove and retain security devices
• Save customers who are not happy or did not have a good experience by correcting the problem, or notify a Manager on Duty of the issue
• Opening and closing duties when necessary: empty trash, stock bags, supplies, cash wraps, dust and wipe counter, organization of drawer supplies
• Assist in other areas of the store when business needs dictate

Qualifications:

• One or more years’ experience in a sales or service environment is preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Ability to provide superior customer service and exceed customer’s expectations
• Ability to use good judgment and logic
• Experience in a related field or outdoor lifestyle
• Knowledge of Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s specific products is an asset
