Job summary

About the role

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, or designate, the Caseworker will assist in case management and connecting with participants in the community.

What you'll do

Caseworker duties include the following responsibilities:

• Provide intensive case management using a participant centred approach that is risk reductive and supportive at the participant level
• Connect participants to community supports.
• Provide clients with support and including connecting them to community resources for long-term housing support
• Support clients with multi-faceted housing supports including move in/out support, finding housing, completing rental application.
• Provide stabilization and crisis support to participants.
• Support participants using a trauma informed and restorative justice lens.
• Build/Maintain positive working relationships with landlords and other agencies.
• Complete and maintain documentation to program standards including HIFIS.
• Role model positive behaviour and encourage and assist participants to practice self-help and non-violent problem-solving skills.
• Maintain confidentiality
• Perform all other duties as assigned/needed.

Other Requirements

• The successful candidate must be able to meet the physical demands of working in a residential home environment while providing quality support to clients.
• This position requires the ability to safely lift and carry household items, groceries, and other materials as part of daily responsibilities. The role involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and driving throughout the workday, with regular movement between tasks and client support activities.
• Candidates must be comfortable climbing stairs, performing general housekeeping duties, making beds, accessing storage areas, and completing seasonal outdoor tasks such as yard maintenance and snow removal. The position also requires the ability to push, pull, bend, crouch, and perform other physical movements necessary to maintain a safe and supportive home environment.
• Successful candidates will possess the physical stamina, mobility, and flexibility to perform the essential duties of the position safely and effectively while supporting the needs of clients.

Qualifications

Education:

• Secondary education from Saskatchewan Polytechnic or Community Colleges or University Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or minimum 1 year of practical experience working with individuals impacted by socio-economic issues including homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfare

Practical Experience:

• Working knowledge and experience with individuals impacted by socio-economic issues, including: homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfare system.
• Working with a range of diverse clients, indiscriminate of: age, gender, sexual orientation, abilities, socio-economic status, religious preference, etc.

Other:

• First Aid, ASIST, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Food Safe would be considered an asset.
• Valid / Insurable Saskatchewan Driver’s License, insurable to drive clients in JHSS-owned vehicles.
• Cleared Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check, completed three (3) months prior to start date.

Capability:

• Computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
• Requires flexibility and should be able to work varying shifts
