Job summary

Mikisew Awasis Kisiwatsowin Society is seeking a Casework Supervisor to oversee child intervention services, ensuring safety and well-being for children and families in Fort McMurray, AB. The role requires leadership over casework staff and ongoing adherence to the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.

You will guide case planning, manage caseloads, review budgets, and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Child Intervention, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Currently delegated or eligible for delegation in Alberta; must be registered or eligible with the Alberta College of Social Workers.
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector; valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driving record; willingness to travel and work after hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, training, support, and direction to casework staff under the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.
• Monitor, guide and evaluate the performance of casework staff.
• Assist staff with case planning, management of agreements, court work, and permanency planning; manage caseloads as required.
• Review and monitor expenses and budgets; maintain statistics and provide regular reports.
• Participate in recruitment, orientation, and training of new employees; foster a positive team environment.
• Ensure compliance with mandatory reporting requirements and maintain up-to-date records.
• Make key decisions regarding safety and placement of children; represent the agency at external meetings when needed.
