Job summary

Carmacks Enterprises Ltd. is seeking Carpenters and Carpenter Labourers for a bridge project in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, starting in July. Candidates must be able to commute to the worksite and work on site with the Bridges Unit.

The role involves building and installing forms, reading blueprints, and supporting concrete pours. Journeyman or apprentice certification is an asset, as are First Aid and Fall Protection training. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years construction experience (heavy civil/industrial/commercial preferred).
  • Journeyman or Apprentice Carpenter certification is an asset.
  • First Aid and Fall Protection training considered an asset.
  • Physically fit and able to perform demanding work for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in challenging weather conditions.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

  • Build and install wooden or metal concrete forms for structures such as piers, retaining walls, abutments, columns, and bridge decks.
  • Cut and assemble formwork from blueprints.
  • Erect and secure forms.
  • Install ties and anchors.
  • Build temporary structures like scaffolding and safety railings.
  • Handle form panels, setting rails, assist with concrete pours (vibrating, shoveling, raking), support finishers.
  • Read and follow blueprints.

Job description

Since 1974, Carmacks Enterprises Ltd. has grown from a small municipal road contractor into a leading heavy civil construction and highway maintenance company operating across Western Canada.

We are seeking Carpenters and Carpenter Labourers to join our Bridges Business Unit for a bridge project in Moose Jaw, SK starting in July. Candidates must be able to commute to and from the worksite.

Role Overview:

Reporting to the Bridges Supervisor, Carpenters support bridge construction activities and play a key role on the crew.

  • Responsibilities include building and installing wooden or metal concrete forms for structures such as piers, retaining walls, abutments, columns, and bridge decks;
  • cutting and assembling formwork from blueprints;
  • erecting and securing forms;
  • installing ties and anchors;
  • and building temporary structures like scaffolding and safety railings;
  • Duties also include handling form panels, setting rails, assisting with concrete pours (vibrating, shoveling, raking), supporting finishers, and performing basic rebar tying;
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints is required.
