Job summary

Job description

Benchmark Builders Inc. is anticipating applications for Journeyperson Carpenters and Apprentices to work on commercial construction projects in Kelowna, BC.

Requirements
  • Knowledge of commercial construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, and safety.
  • Proficient at the following tasks: wood backing, framing, hang doors, drill and set door hardware, set windows, layout for stairs and common rafters, read blueprints, utilize appropriate math skills.
  • Learn and actively practice essential carpentry skills on the job.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Set up and maintain tools for your supervising carpenter.
  • Own transportation, valid driver’s license with satisfactory driver’s abstract.
  • Ability to multi task with strong attention to detail.
  • Productive in a team environment.
  • Able to operate a skid steer and rough terrain forklift is considered an asset.

Working Conditions
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to accurately measure, cut, fit and finish materials.
  • Physical capability to lift, carry, push, pull, and position materials, and to perform tasks while standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, or working overhead for extended periods.
  • Able to work at varying heights, including the use of ladders, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms.
  • Capacity to work in confined or awkward positions, in a range of environmental conditions, including outdoor and variable weather conditions.
  • Able to safely and efficiently operate hand tools and power tools for prolonged periods.
  • Able to stand and walk for long periods of time, bend and crouch frequently.
