Job summary

Housing NWT is seeking a Carpenter/Maintenance Technician in Inuvik to inspect, maintain, repair and perform carpentry work across GNWT properties. You will collaborate with the District Office team and may travel to communities for preventative maintenance.

The role requires knowledge of building codes, metric measurements and the ability to read plans. A journey-level carpenter certification and a Class 5 driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the National Building Codes and Good Building Practices for Northern Facilities.
• Ability to use and work in SI units (metric) for many tools and parts.
• Experience in operation and maintenance of equipment to work independently.
• Knowledge of codes and regulations related to building trades and how to reference them.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, repair and perform carpentry work in Housing NWT buildings.
• Document maintenance activities and support operations of Housing NWT assets.
• Travel to communities for preventative maintenance and repairs as required.
