Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Journeyperson Carpenter for the Central Zone, QEII, to perform repairs, alterations and small renovations to hospital facilities, while complying with building, fire and infection prevention codes.

The Carpenter reports to Maintenance & Operations, with potential travel between sites within the zone; the role is permanent, full-time, 75 hours bi-weekly, and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Carpenter Certificate required.
  • Broad exposure to the construction industry in a similar organization.

Responsibilities

  • Repair/alter building structures (walls, ceilings, doors, windows, millwork, abatement, flooring, wall cladding/paneling, Gyproc, etc.).
  • Perform small in-house renovations including infection prevention hoarding as required.
  • Adhere to provincial, building, fire and infection prevention and control codes and hospital policies.
  • Travel between sites within the zone as needed.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Maintenance & Operations Assistant Manager, the Carpenter is responsible for completing repairs/alterations to building structures; for example, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, millwork, abatement, flooring, wall cladding/paneling, Gyproc, etc., while adhering to building, fire, infection prevention and control codes and regulations. The incumbent is also responsible for small in-house renovations and additions, including infection prevention and control hoarding, as required. This work must be done in accordance with all provincial, building, fire, and infection prevention and control codes and regulations; all pertinent hospital policies and procedures must also be adhered to. The Carpenter may perform other duties as required. Travel within the zone or other zones as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $31.55 - $37.31 Hourly
